Dominican High School welcomes transfer students at the beginning of a new school year. In general a student who transfers to Dominican enters with the cumulative GPA he/she held at his/her previous school; however, decisions regarding evaluation and acceptance of credits towards graduation are reserved to Dominican. Students transferring at the beginning of sophomore year due to a change in home address are eligible for Valedictorian or Salutatorian honors. Transfer students entering junior year are not eligible unless Dominican makes an exception upon admittance. WIAA Transfer Eligibility
The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA), of which Dominican is a member, states that “a student who transfers from any school into a member school after the fourth consecutive semester following entry into grade 9 shall be ineligible for competition for one calendar year unless the transfer is made necessary by a total change in residence by parent(s).” The WIAA’s residence and transfer rules continue to retain a waiver provision, which may be provided at the request of a school in situations where extenuating circumstances can be documented. For more information on transfer student eligibility and waivers please visit the WIAA site.
